Since 1969 Saro Di Bartolo has been active in various professions in the most different fields of the tourism industry, working for and with hotels, travel agencies and tour operators, institutions, boards, schools, advertising, graphic art and marketing firms, multimedia research and editing enterprises.

Education

In 1975 he published "Ticket to English" , an English language grammar for the tourism business.

From 1982 to 1984 he was the Italian language teacher for " City College of Chicago" at the US NATO Air Force Base in Rimini  Italy.

In 1983 he began his activity in the Emilia Romagna vocational training system, working with both private and Regional Government organizations, and specializing in tourism courses turning to college and university students.

As part of that activity he has been the planner and coordinator of a considerable number of innovatory courses, and the head of various research teams in charge of programming and carrying out new training  methods: techniques which have become today's  reference points when it comes to knowledge in the tourism trade.

Today Saro Di Bartolo delivers reports and lectures on tourism topics within the context of upper level European Union Training courses: comunication techniques in the tour business, hotel & travel agency management, multimedia tools  and english language for tourism,

Interpreting

Having grown up in the United States (American mother - Italian father) and thus being  bilingual, since 1970 he has done interpreting  and translating work for a considerable number of organizations and companies in the most different fields: industry, commerce, advertising, tourism, etc.. He has translated a huge quantity of texts and pubblications in the editorial field and has worked as an interpreter on an endless number of occasions: conferences, business trips and transactions, international events of all kinds, etc..

Since 1975 he has been in charge of welcoming and assistance services for Italian and foreign personalities and trade delegations  for both private and public organizations, among which chambers of commerce, townships, government agencies, banks, trade fairs, tourism boards and prestigious  names, such as IBM, "Pio Manzù, International Research Centre", "ICE - Italian Trade Commission, New York", Rimini Trade Fair,  Romagna Riviera Convention Bureau,  APT Servizi - Tourism Promotion Agency, Rimini Grand Hotel, etc..

On many occasions he has done interpreting work for nation-wide television networks:  RAI, TELEMONTECARLO and MEDIASET channels, as well as for journalists from Italy's leading newspapers. He has collaborated with professionals such as:

Photography

Fond of photography since he was a young boy, since 1969 he has been dedicating more and more attention to it.

His interest towards history, art and the world's different civilizations has led him to visit many foreign countries, where he has taken a considerable amount of pictures. He has created audiovisuals for the travel trade ("The United States", "Turkey", "Ravenna and its Art") and for industry. Together with his son Luca he collaborates with tour operators and with advertising, graphic-art, and marketing studios. Their articles and photographs have appeared on various pubblications.

           Among his most significant assignments and his most recent experiences:

  • Research and writing of a report on "Theme Parks", one of Italy's latest and fastest growing tourism sectors - for the Emilia Romagna Regional Government.

  • Organization of a familiarization trip to the USA, to analyse the management models of the country's main attractions, for the High Commissioner for Tourism of the Emilia Romagna Regional Government. Conducting of the tour, having as its members the Tourism Commissioners and Mayors of the region's seaside resorts.

  • Official speaker for the presentation of  "Emilia-Romagna Tourism " to United States Tour Operators, during the "Emilia Romagna Week" in California (in collaboration with Alitalia Airlines and ENIT - Italian Tourism Board).

  • Interpreter of Sting, rockstar and President of the "Rainforest Foundation", on the occasion of the "Cervia Environment Award" celebrations and cerimony.

  • Interpreter of Dr. Henry Kissinger, Secretary of State of President Richard Nixon and winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace, on the occasion of his stay in Italy.

  •  The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, awards him with  the Special Environment Prize, on the occasion of the International Photography Contest to celebrating its 30th anniversary.

  • Head of the "Kenya Teachers Project", an international training plan sponsored by the Emilia Romagna Vocational Training Department and by  IAL Emilia Romagna.
  • Interpreter of  Professor Christiaan Barnard, the world famous South African cardiologist who transplanted the first human heart: the century's biggest breakthrough in medicine.
  
     

  • The Cd-Rom "Cultural Tourism in Emilia Romagna", of which he's the author, wins the First Prize at the 12th International Tourism Film and Cd-Rom Festival in Varese.   Formazione

  Nel 1975 pubblica "Ticket to English" , una grammatica per lo studio dell'inglese
  turistico.

  Dal 1982 al 1984 è docente di lingua italiana per il "City College of Chicago" presso la
  base NATO di Rimini.

  A partire dal 1983 gli vengono affidati vari incarichi dalla Regione Emilia Romagna e
  dagli enti convenzionati nel campo della formazione di IIº livello, rivolta a diplomati
  e laureati.

  In tale contesto è stato l’ideatore, progettista e coordinatore di svariati corsi
  innovativi, nonché responsabile di gruppi di lavoro incaricati della progettazione di
  attività sperimentali, divenute poi lo standard regionale in ambito turistico.

  Interviene, in qualità di docente di discipline turistiche, strumenti multimediali e
  comunicazione nel turismo, lingua inglese, nel contesto di corsi professionali di
  formazione superiore e del Fondo Sociale Europeo.

Perfettamente bilingue, dal 1970 svolge l'attività di interprete e traduttore per numerosissime organizzazioni ed aziende nei più svariati settori (industria, commercio, pubblicità, turismo, ecc.), sia curando la traduzioni di innumerevoli testi e pubblicazioni, che intervenendo in qualità di interprete a congressi, manifestazioni, visite, incontri d'affari, ecc..

Dal 1975 cura l'accoglienza e l'assistenza di personalità Italiane ed estere e di delegazioni economiche per enti pubblici ed aziende private tra cui le Camere di Commercio di Forlì e Ravenna, il Comune di Rimini, la Regione Emilia Romagna, il Centro Internazionale Ricerche Pio Manzù, il Grand Hotel di Rimini, la Cassa di Risparmio di Rimini, l'APT Servizi - Agenzia di Promozione Turistica dell'Emilia-Romagna, l'ICE - Istituto per il Commercio Estero di New York,  IBM Italia, l'Ente Fiera di Rimini, il Convention Bureau della Riviera di Romagna, ecc..

Ha svolto, in numerose occasioni, attività di interpretariato per la RAI, TELEMONTECARLO e le reti MEDIASET, nonché per giornalisti delle maggiori testate italiane.

Ha collaborato tra l’altro con Carmen Lasorella ,   Igor Man , Arrigo Levi, Furio Colombo, Mino D’Amato, Bruno Mobrici, Mario Pirani, Bruno Vespa.

Fin da giovane coltiva lo studio della fotografia e dal 1969 se ne occupa con crescente impegno.

Appassionato di storia, arte e costumi dei popoli, ha viaggiato a lungo, realizzando reportage in varie parti del mondo. Ha creato audiovisivi per il settore turistico ("Gli Stati Uniti", "La Turchia", "Ravenna e la sua Arte") e industriale. Insieme al figlio Luca, collabora con studi di advertising, grafica, marketing e tour operator. Loro articoli e immagini sono apparsi su varie pubblicazioni.

"Saro Di Bartolo è un meticoloso cultore del particolare, le sue immagini si distinguono per il valore compositivo, lo scrupolo nella ricerca dell'inquadratura migliore, la cura sottile di ogni dettaglio. Nel corso dei suoi viaggi ha raccolto un ricco patrimonio di immagini: frutto di intuizione e sensibilità, diligenza estetica e dominio sugli strumenti tecnici. Foto che spiccano per l'estrema ricerca di un rigore formale assoluto. Quando la fotografia raggiunge tali livelli diventa pura espressione artistica. Andare alla ricerca in ogni immagine della simmetria, dell'armonia e della poesia presenti nel mondo circostante è per lui una necessità essenziale".

            Tra gli incarichi più significativi e le più recenti
         esperienze:

  • Elaborazione di uno studio sulla nuova ed emergente realtà turistica dei "Parchi Tematici" - per conto della Regione Emilia Romagna.

  • Organizzazione di un viaggio esplorativo negli USA, al fine di analizzare i modelli di gestione delle principali "attraction" e la successiva guida di tale tour, cui hanno partecipato Assessori al Turismo e Sindaci delle città rivierasche - su incarico dell'Assessore al Turismo della Regione Emilia Romagna.

  • Relatore ufficiale per la presentazione del "Prodotto Turistico Emilia-Romagna" ai Tour Operator statunitensi, nel contesto della "Settimana dell'Emilia Romagna" in California (in collaborazione con Alitalia ed ENIT).

  • Interprete di Sting, rockstar e Presidente della "Rainforest Foundation", in occasione delle celebrazioni per il conferimento del "Premio Cervia Ambiente".

  • Interprete di Henry Kissinger, Segretario di Stato del Presidente Richard Nixon e Premio Nobel per la Pace, in occasione di un suo soggiorno in Italia.

 
   
  • Interpretariato in diretta Mondovisione per il Segretario Generale dell'ONU Javier Perez de Cuellar, in occasione di un'intervista della giornalista RAI Carmen Lasorella.

  • La United Airlines, la maggiore compagnia aerea del mondo, gli assegna il primo premio assoluto all'"International Travel Photography Grand Prize - 1993"  (su 15.000 concorrenti da tutto il mondo).

  • Responsabile della Regione Emilia Romagna in Kenya per la selezione dei candidati al "Progetto Formatori Kenioti" dello IAL Emilia Romagna.

  • Interprete del cardiochirurgo sudafricano Christiaan Barnard.

  • Ideazione, architettura e supervisione del "Manuale di Geografia per il Turismo", realizzato da Accademia di Commercio e Turismo di Trento per HIT - Holding Italiana Turismo,  nel contesto del progetto Sestante Travel Network - Automobile Club d'Italia.

  •   Ideazione, architettura e supervisione del Cd-Rom "Musei e Collezioni in Emilia Romagna", vincitore del Premio Europeo "100 Città d'Arte d'Italia" di Ferrara. Il cd-rom è nato nel contesto del progetto Europeo "CU.L.TUR.A – Beni Museali e Informazione Tecnologica", una collaborazione tra IAL Emilia Romagna, Sinform, IBC - Istituto dei Beni Culturali, FIA e Nomisma; iniziativa patrocinata da APT Servizi.

  • Vincitore della IX edizione del "Posidone, Rassegna Mediterranea di Cultura ed Ambiente" Premio Cultura Fotografia, sotto il patrocinio del WWF -  World Wildlife Fund, agosto 2001.
